Sierra Nevada

The Sierra Nevada (meaning “snowy range” in Spanish) is a mountain range in the region of Andalusia, provinces of Granada and Almería in Spain. It contains the highest point of continental Spain, Mulhacén at 3,478 metres (11,411 ft) above sea level.

Upside saw
Sierra in Spanish actually means the dented area of a saw. When turned upside down, it becomes similar to the view of a group of peaks of a mountain range.

Skiing paradise 2,5 hours from Marbella’s beaches
It is a popular tourist destination, as its high peaks make skiing possible in one of Europe’s most southerly ski resorts, in an area along the Mediterranean Sea predominantly known for its warm temperatures and abundant sunshine.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that the skiing will be second rate either. 20 lifts serve 100 km of piste at the Sierra Nevada. The season usually last from November to May.

Snow; an unusual Costa del Sol attraction
While most people tend to visit or move to Costa del Sol to get away from cold weather, Sierra Nevada is an impressive resort well worth a visit. Unlike other countries; when you get chilly you simply escape back to the beach. We love this unique and diverse combination!

Where to stay
Our favorite hotel is without comparison the El Lodge by The Marbella Club Hotel. It is built as a Nordic style wood lodge, and is extraordinary to say the least!
